Robert “Cork” Larson age 90, of Manchester and formerly of Hopkinton, died Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Regional Hospital, Manchester.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Friday morning, September 28, 2018 at the Hopkinton Community Church with interment in the Hopkinton Cemetery with Military Honors. Pastor Keith Pitts will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Thursday at the Hopkinton Community Church.
Surviving is his wife, LaVonne, 2 daughters, Reeta (Randy Harbach) Wall, Delhi, Carolyn (Michael) Mayer, Osage, a step-son, Kenneth (Debra) Jorgensen, Reno, NV. 16 grandchildren, 31 great-Grandchildren, a sister, Barbara Bain, Council Bluffs, his brother, Larry Larson, Palm Springs, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Viola, a son Daniel, and 5 brothers, Ronald, Dean, Wayne, Ned and Darrell.
Robert Larson was born July 8, 1928 at Avoca, Iowa. He was the son of Chris and Irene Meggers, Larson. Cork graduated from the Avoca High School and then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Viola Faye Shriver on November 8, 1952 at Downey, CA. They lived in Avoca until 1969 when they moved to Hopkinton to work at the Swiss Valley Cheese Plant. Viola died on March 16, 1988. Cork was a production foreman when he retired in 1989. He married LaVonne Shriver Ehlert on November 16, 1990 at Delhi, Iowa. The couple lived in Hopkinton until 2010 when they moved to Manchester.
Cork was a member of the American Legion in Hopkinton. He loved to do crossword puzzles, play scrabble, do wood working and gardening. He also enjoyed time spent sitting by a campfire while camping.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Regional Medical Center for their care and compassion during Corks illness.
