Colesburg Man Retires After 30+ Years on Public Health Board

A Colesburg man has retired from the Delaware County Board of Health after thirty-plus years of service.

Fred Phelps has had a long career in nursing, serving as a nurse in the Vietnam War. He has worked at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Iowa City, served in the Army Nursing Corps for nearly two decades and volunteered with Regional Medical Center’s Hospice of Comfort.

Phelps was honored at the Board of Health meeting on Friday with a certificate from the Iowa Department of Public Health and a token of gratitude for his decades of service.
