HS VOLLEYBALL: Weekend Recap

The Class 4A 9th-ranked West Delaware Hawks improved their record to 27-9 in their final regular season Saturday tournament by going  2-2. The Hawks defeated West Liberty 2-1 and Cedar Rapids Washington 2-0. Then they were beaten 2-0 by Class 5A top ten-ranked schools C.R. Jefferson and Ankeny Centennial, who met in the championship match with Centennial winning. West Delaware, who won the East side title Thursday night received the #1-seed in the WaMaC Conference tournament which starts Monday with Pool Play in Tiffin. The Hawks will face Central DeWitt at 4pm, South Tama at 5pm and around 6:30 take on the host Clear Creek-Amana Clippers. Our coverage will begin around 5pm with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Joan Salow. Also at CC-A will be Independence, Mount Vernon and Williamsburg. Beckman will host the other site in Dyersville where they will welcome in Benton Community, Marion, Vinton-Shellsburg, Maquoketa, CP-U and Solon. The top seven teams will move on to the championship bracket with the bottom half competing on the consolation side with all teams traveling to Mount Vernon on Thursday.
