Worthington Man Involved in Fatal ATV Crash Identified

Authorities have identified the man who died following an ATV crash near Worthington.

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says the victim was 76-year old David Thier of Worthington.

They say Thier was driving an ATV southbound on Wieferich Road on Thursday around 3:30 pm when he failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic at East Worthington Road. His ATV pulled out in front of a minivan heading west on East Worthington Road. The minivan’s driver, 37-year old Nohemi Vega of Worthington, tried braking and swerving, but hit Thier’s ATV.

Thier was transported to Mercy Hospital in Dyersville with life-threatening injuries. He later died.

Vega suffered bruising and pain, but refused medical treatment.

She was cited for not having a valid driver’s license and failing to provide proof of insurance.
