St. Mary’s School Presents Donation to Honor Flight

St. Mary’s School in Manchester presented a donation to the Eastern Iowa Honor on Monday.

The school raised the money during their annual Great Pumpkin Chase 5K Road Race a couple weeks ago.

Dick Bell, Vice President of the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight, was on hand to accept the check for nearly $2,700.

The Honor Flight, based out of Cedar Rapids, takes area veterans on a one-day trip to Washington D.C., with flights every April, May, September and October.

The check presentation was made during the school’s Veterans Day service on Monday afternoon. St. Mary’s students Susie Funke, Clark Morris and Trudy Loecke say it’s special to have the Manchester Legion come to their school so they can help honor the veterans.

Fellow student Luke Beswick agrees.

The Manchester Legion also held Veterans Day services at West Delaware High School and West Delaware Middle School on Monday.
