Update on Deadly Collision Involving Dyersville Semi Driver

Authorities say additional evidence collected on a deadly collision in Tama County earlier this month shows the victim crossed the centerline.

A pickup truck and semi collided on Highway 30 just north of Chelsea the night of November 9th. The pickup driver, 38-year old Tami Cockrell of Van Horne, died in the crash. The semi driver, 34-year old Adam Nurre of Dyersville, was not hurt.

The initial report from the Iowa State Patrol said Nurre was westbound when, for some unknown reason, he crossed the centerline into the eastbound lanes and hit Cockrell’s pickup. However, the Iowa State Patrol released an update on Monday, stating that additional evidence shows Cockrell’s pickup truck had been across the double solid yellow lines driving in the wrong direction just prior to impact. Authorities say both vehicles tried avoiding the collision, but were unable to.
