Authorities Release Details on Hit-and-Run Accident Near Colesburg

Authorities have now released details about a hit-and-run accident that happened north of Colesburg a few weeks ago.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office says it happened October 20th on Colesburg Road near 400th Street. While responding to the accident, deputies saw a man laying in the ditch along Osterdock Road. The man, 25-year old Travis Fangman of Colesburg, told authorities he hit a deer and his pickup truck was disabled down the road.

After investigating, the Sheriff’s Office says Fangman had rear-ended a car at the intersection of Colesburg Road and 400th Street. The driver of the car, Steven Wiskus of Colesburg, was transported to Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and later airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with life-threatening injuries.

Fangman was treated and released from the Guttenberg hospital.

Fangman was arrested on several charges, including operating while intoxicated 3rd offense and leaving the scene of a serious injury accident.
