
An illegal immigrant living in Casacade was convicted this week after he used another person’s social security number and a fraudulent “green card”.
45-year old Luis Gonzalez-Esparsa was convicted of one count of unlawful use of an identification document and one count of misuse of a social security number.
Evidence at trial showed that on June 14th, Gonzalez-Esparsa used someone else’s social security number on employment and tax documents when applying for work in Peosta. He also used a fraudulent permanent resident card, known as a “green card”, to claim he was legally present and authorized to work in the U.S.
When sentenced, Gonzalez-Esparsa faces up to up to fifteen years in prison.
