Crews have moved back in to the Quaker Mill Dam area north of Manchester to work on the second phase of the project. Delaware County Engineer Anthony Bardgett explains.
Top Grade Excavating of Epworth is the prime contractor – they moved in to start work about a month ago. Bardgett says Phase Two is moving along well, with the goal to provide flood control and revitalize the stream.
The Quaker Mill Dam project is a 50-50 venture between Delaware County and the DNR. Bardgett says 391-thousand dollars was spent on the first phase, with the second phase at just under 700-thousand dollars. Work will continue through winter, and the project could wrap up by mid-January. And then the County will turn its attention to several other projects in the plans for next year.
