Zebra Death in Buchanan County Under Investigation

Authorities are investigating the death of a zebra in Buchanan County.

On Sunday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a zebra in captivity that had possibly been shot at 1948 110th Street in rural Oelwein. Sheriff’s deputies responded and found the zebra dead.

The zebra has been transported to the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Lab in Ames to find out the cause of death.

Last year, another pet zebra was found dead in the rural Oelwein area after it was shot.

Authorities do not know if the two incidents are connect. This incident remains under investigation.
