Authorities are investigating the death of a Delaware County man who was found after a car accident late last week.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says they received a report of a missing person Friday morning. According to the Sheriff’s Office’s press release issued today, 47-year old William Roling of rural Manchester had not returned home Thursday night and had not reported for work Friday morning. Roling had last been seen in downtown Delhi around 10:15 pm Thursday night.
Shortly after the missing person report came in, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a car accident on 220th Avenue about a half mile south of 230th Street. The vehicle had gone into the ditch and then continued northbound for several hundred feet before striking a creek embankment. The vehicle had come to rest in the ditch on its right side. The vehicle was registered to William Roling.
Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Delhi and Delaware Fire Departments and the Manchester Police K-9 team, searched the area. Around 12:30 pm, they found Roling’s body in a farm field about three quarters of a mile southwest of the accident scene.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine what caused his death. The incident remains under investigation.
