Robert Raymond “Bob” Lahr, 84, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. Bob was born on April 4, 1934, in Monticello, the son of Raymond and Delores (Westhoff) Lahr. Bob was a 1952 graduate of Worthington High School. After his graduation, Bob served honorably in the United States Army.
On June 6, 1957, Bob was united in marriage to Rosemary March in Worthington. Eight children were born to this union. Bob worked in Earlville as a mechanic and truck driver. The family then moved to a farm north of Manchester. The couple farmed together and remained on the farm until June of 2016.
Bob and Rosemary enjoyed spending their summers in Ontario, Canada, for ten years. During his life he enjoyed fishing and raising draft horses. Bob was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Rosemary Lahr of Edgewood; eight children, Larry (Darlene) Lahr of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Jay) Walters of Garber, Dan (Jacque) Lahr of Manchester, Julia (Stephen) Feld of Marshalltown, Annette (Kevin) Harbaugh of Manchester, Michael (Cathy Kearns) Lahr of Hopkinton, Martin (Tricia) Lahr of Coggon, and Lisa (Barry) Huber of Eldridge; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pat (Robert) Wolfe of Dubuque; two brothers, Harold (Lois) Lahr of Earlville and Wayne Lahr of Worthington; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Leo Manternach; and one brother, Herman (Bev) Lahr.
