A Center Point store has violated the law by selling tobacco to a minor.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says Dollar General on Lewis Access Road in Center Point sold tobacco products to an underage person during compliance checks last Thursday.
Of forty-eight retailers checked, three violated the law by selling to a minor.
Both the employee who sold the tobacco product and the retailer face penalties and/or fines for illegal tobacco sales.
The Sheriff’s Office says additional compliance checks may be conducted anytime throughout the year.
