HS Wrestling: Saturday 1.5 Recap

The first wrestling tournaments of the new year were held on Saturday.

In Van Horne: West Delaware finished 2nd at the Jerry Eckenrod Invitational at Benton Community High School. The Hawks were 13.5 points behind top ranked in class 1A Don Bosco as they had six wrestlers in the finals and one champion as Ryan Phillips won the 132 pound title. Independence finished in 6th place and had one champion in Cole Davis as he won the 160 pound title for the Mustangs. North Linn finished in 14th place and were led by Brady Henderson at 152 and Quinton Rechkemmer at 182 as they both finished in 3rd place. For complete results click HERE.

In Delhi: Maquoketa Valley hosted their dual tournament on Saturday which featured three area schools. Beckman finished in 2nd place going 4-1 with wins over Maquoketa Valley, Starmont, Midland, and Wilton with their only loss coming to the champion Center Point-Urbana. Maquoketa Valley went 2-3 with wins over Midland and Starmont, while the Stars went 1-4 with their win coming against Midland.

In Hampton: East Buchanan went 1-4 after defeating Belmond-Klemme in the Hampton-Dumont duals . The Buccaneers’ losses came to Hampton-Dumont, Lake Mills, MFL MarMac, and Waterloo West. For complete results click HERE.

In Marion: Western Dubuque finished as the runner-up of the Linn-Mar duals as they went 4-0 in pool action by defeating Mount Vernon, Mount Pleasant, Clinton, and Marion before falling 42-30 in the championship dual to Ankeny Centennial. For complete results click HERE.

In Brooklyn: Anamosa took home the team title at the Corky Stuart Invitational at BGM High School as they defeated Iowa Valley by 15 points. The Blue Raiders had three champions in Alex Casey at 145 Nathan Keating at 160, and heavyweight Connor Andresen. For complete results click HERE.

In Riverside: Cascade finished 13th at the Gary Curtis Invitational at Highland High School and were led by Aidan Noonan who won the 113 pound title. For complete results click HERE.

In Lancaster WI: Monticello finished in 5th place at the Lancaster Invite in Lancaster Wisconsin as they Panthers were led by Kain Luensman who was the champion at 126 pounds and Chase Luensman who won the title at 145 pounds. For complete results click HERE.
