A Dyersville woman is ready to step into her role as a State Senator.
Carrie Koelker was elected in November, defeating Democratic incumbent Tod Bowman of Maquoketa, who had served for the past eight years. Koelker will represent District 29, which covers Dubuque, Jones and Jackson counties.
And she comes into the position with a long background in Iowa tourism.
Her fellow legislators say Koelker is ready to hit the ground running.
Koelker says she is hoping to get a lot accomplished early in the session.
The Iowa legislative session gets underway on Monday.
