If you are looking for a way to give back to your community this year, here’s your opportunity.
Right now, there are 15 kids in Delaware County who need a mentor. Ellen Krogmann with Helping Services says it’s a great way to volunteer and make a difference in a kid’s life.
Mentors can be an individual, a couple or an entire family – though right now, they are especially in need of men who are interested in being mentors for boys on the waiting list.
And it doesn’t have to involve a lot of time – only about four hours a month or you can simply spend your lunch hour with a child. Or you can be a Mentor For A Day – attending an event that fits your schedule and hanging out with a child who is waiting for a permanent mentor.
Either way, Krogmann says it has a positive impact on a child’s life.
Mentoring is available to any Delaware County children ages 5 to 16, with matches currently in the West Delaware, Ed-Co and Maquoketa Valley school districts.
