Delaware County officials are hoping to schedule a vote on the jail bond for May.
On Monday, the Board of Supervisors held a work session with attorney Mark Cory of Ahlers and Cooney to discuss and review bonding options for the proposed jail project.
Delaware County is looking into building a new jail and Sheriff’s Office at a new location, most likely in Manchester. The project could cost close to six million dollars.
The County has been repeatedly warned by the state jail inspector in recent years that the current jail facility does not meet standards. Sheriff John LeClere says they need to update the jail or they could face possible closure – though the state jail inspector has not given the County a time frame on exactly when that closure could happen.
The Supervisors have asked the attorney to work on bonding options and send a draft to the County.
