HS Wrestling: West Delaware Takes Two Cross Division WaMaC Duals

The West Delaware wrestling team swept a pair of WaMaC cross divisional duals on Thursday night as they defeated South Tama 63-10 and Williamsburg 37-15. Against South Tama the Hawks won 11 of the 14 matches with eight falls and head coach Jeff Voss said his team has struggled in the past after the long trip to Williamsburg but thought they looked ready to go against the Trojans:

In the final dual for the Hawks they fell behind 6-0 in the early stages of the dual meet but continued to battle back and didn’t take their first lead in the dual until after the 10th match of the dual when they went up 16-15, but after taking the lead they didn’t lose another match as they picked up bonus points in four out of the final five matches which included three falls. Voss says he was happy with the way the kids responded after getting in an early deficit:

Tomorrow West Delaware will head to the Louisa Muscatine Invitational a tournament which will feature fewer ranked opponents than they have seen in the last two tournaments but a tournament they certainly don’t expect to breeze through:

Weather pending wrestling at the Louisa Muscatine Invitational is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 am tomorrow.
