Manchester Official Recommends Running Faucets to Prevent Frozen Water Lines

Some Manchester residents are starting to see problems with their water lines in this freezing weather.

Chad Wulfekuhle, with the City of Manchester Water Department, recommends residents run their faucets at a trickle (about half the width of a pencil).

Several years ago, the City of Manchester also encouraged residents to run their water to keep pipes from freezing – but that was due to frost that had penetrated deep into the ground. Wulfekuhle says the frost isn’t that far in the ground right now due to the mild winter we’ve had up until a couple weeks ago – but the cold air is the cause of the problem this time.
