Schools Back in Session after Consecutive Snow Days

Schools were back in session Friday after nearly a week and a half of snow days.

Back-to-back snowstorms and near record cold kept students out of class for about seven days. Lambert Elementary Principal Rudi Hameister says in his 19 years of teaching, he’s never seen anything like it.

West Delaware started classes back up Friday after starting the day with a two-hour delay.

And Lambert’s second graders had mixed feelings about school being cancelled day after day.

Most of the kids said they were ready to come back to school on Friday.

As of right now, West Delaware will be going until at least June 5th – a change from the original late May end date – to make up those snow days.

Hameister says the school calendar is something they’ll discuss.
