HS Wrestling: Western Dubuque Hosts Regional Dual

The Western Dubuque wrestling team will look to get back to the class 3A state duals tonight for the first time since 2017 as they host 10th ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie and 22nd ranked Iowa City High. The Bobcats come in ranked 8th which gives them a bye and will await the winner of the Prairie and City High dual. Being in the Mississippi Valley conference for the first time Bobcat head coach Paul Cleary is glad they will have an opportunity to wrestle a team they have seen already:

The Bobcats have beaten both teams this season as they defeated Iowa City High twice, 42-27 in a conference dual and 41-25 in the Battle of Waterloo, and last Saturday they defeated Cedar Rapids Prairie 43-33 to earn a share of the Mississippi Valley dual title. Even though they have beaten both teams Cleary says his guys know that those wins don’t guarantee a victory in tonight’s dual:

Western Dubuque will also host districts in Epworth on Saturday so it will be a good chance for Bobcat nation to come out and support the wrestling team as they begin their postseason run:

The Prairie and City High dual will begin at 6:00 tonight with the Bobcats to face the winner immediately following.

Our coverage on KMCH tonight will be the postponed class 2A regional dual in Manchester as West Delaware will take on Washington and with a win will face either West Liberty or Camanche.
