State Legislators Meet with Delaware County Residents

The first month of the 2019 Iowa legislative session has been a busy one.

Republican State Senator Dan Zumbach of Ryan:

Republican State Representative Lee Hein of Monticello has always said the budget is his top priority, so he was pleased to see some progress made in that area last week.

Zumbach and Hein participated in Friday’s Legislative Coffee at the Delaware County Farm Bureau office, co-hosted with Delaware County Economic Development. Around forty residents attended the public forum to ask the legislators questions, with one of those questions regarding the current status of the Bottle Bill.

There was also a discussion on evolving the economy with less truck regulations.

Taxes were also a concern from local residents.

And one resident wanted to know if the legislature would consider giving local school districts a “pass” for the numerous snow days this winter.

Zumbach says he appreciates everyone who turned out so they can bring their concerns and feedback to Des Moines.

The next Legislative Coffee is set for Friday, March 15th at 10 am at the Delaware County Farm Bureau office in Manchester.
