An Earlville man has been arrested for his wife’s murder.
42-year old Todd Mullis was taken into custody Thursday and charged with First Degree Murder. He was served an arrest warrant by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office says the murder charge is a result of the investigation into the death of 39-year old Amy Mullis. Mullis died November 10th at their farm at 1722 255th Avenue four miles northwest of Earlville. Authorities and emergency personnel arrived at the farm and found Amy injured from what was believed to be a fall. She was transported to Regional Medical Center, where she died.
Todd reported Amy’s death was unattended. However, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says she died after sustaining injuries that included multiple stab wounds to her back with a corn rake. The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner determined her death was a homicide.
The Sheriff’s Office says information and evidence gathered during the investigation identified Todd Mullis as the person responsible for her death.
The Sheriff’s Office says Mullis was taken into custody without incident. He is being held without bail in the Delaware County Jail.
The results of the investigation will be turned over to the Delaware County Attorney’s Office.
