Dyersville Semi Driver Involved in Crash Near Solon

A Dyersville semi driver was involved in a crash that injured several people in Johnson County on Friday morning.

It happened south of Solon on Highway 1 near Dillons Furrow Road around 5:30 am.

The Iowa State Patrol says 61-year old Loras Phillips was driving southbound when an oncoming car crossed the centerline and struck the semi’s trailer.

Phillips was not hurt. But all three people in the car were injured, including the driver, 25-year old Miguel Andrade of Coralville.

Andrade was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. His two passengers, 23-year old Tara Crane of Cedar Rapids and 22-year old Sarah Loy of Mount Vernon, were transported there by ambulance.

Authorities say they don’t know why Andrade’s car crossed the centerline. The crash remains under investigation.
