Arraignment has been set for an Earlville man accused of killing his wife.
42-year old Todd Mullis is charged with First Degree Murder in the death of Amy Mullis. Authorities and emergency personnel arrived at their farm on November 10th and found Amy injured from what was believed to be a fall. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Todd reported Amy’s death was unattended. However, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says she died after sustaining injuries that included multiple stab wounds to her back with a corn rake. The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner determined her death was a homicide and investigators say her murder was premeditated.
Mullis was taken into custody two weeks ago and remains in the Delaware County Jail on five million dollars cash-only bond.
His arraignment has been set for next Tuesday, March 19th – this is the hearing in which Mullis will hear the charge against him and enter a plea. However, the Delaware County Attorney’s Office says his counsel has already filed a written arraignment and plea of not guilty with a demand for a speedy trial.
The court plans to set pre-trial and trial dates for Mullis on Tuesday as well.
