The Dyersville Chamber has announced the nominees for “Woman of the Year”.
This year’s nominees are Bec Willenborg, Jessica Pape and the Lemmon Sisters.
Willenborg is a small business owner and journalist who has volunteered in her community as a youth golf instructor and Beckman Booster Club leader. She has also been involved with the Masses at the Basilica, including as a member of the Adult Folk Group and leader of the Youth Folk Group.
Pape is the Director of the Manchester Chamber who also leads the Grade Level Reading Program in the area. She also serves as the President of the Western Dubuque School Board, the Community Outreach Director at Cornerstone Community Church and is an entrepreneur with Trades of Hope, selling jewelry and products to help disadvantaged women in third world countries.
And the Lemmon Sisters is a group of fourteen women who have performed annual Christmas shows for the community. Instead of charging admission, they have asked people to donate a new toy or give a free will offering, with all toys and money collected going to Miriam Eick’s Toys for the Needy project. The Lemmon Sisters’ shows started in 2003, with their final performance held last December.
The “Woman of the Year” will be announced at the Chamber’s Annual Women’s Night event on Wednesday, April 3rd.
