With the rainfall, melting snow and warmer weather, Delaware County is asking heavy loads to limit travel on gravel roads.
County Engineer Anthony Bardgett says the gravel roads are turning soft and in some cases, impassable, right now. He’s asking those who need to haul heavy loads or repetitive loads to use alternate routes or wait to haul when the roads are frozen so they have a chance to heal.
The County’s Secondary Roads Department will be out repairing deteriorated sections of road as much as possible, but will be limited to hours of the day when the ground is frozen.
He says normal blading and rock application will not begin until the roads have a chance to dry out.
Fayette and Clayton counties have made similar requests.
