The DNR is hosting a deer disease meeting in Peosta tonight.
They’ll discuss the local results of the chronic wasting disease monitoring effort, as well as available options going forward.
A tissue sample collected in December from a road-killed deer a couple miles southeast of Dubuque tested positive for the fatal disease. It was the first deer in Dubuque County to ever test positive. Along with Dubuque County, wild deer have tested positive for chronic wasting disease in Clayton, Allamakee and Davis counties.
Tonight’s public meeting begins at 7 pm at the Peosta Community Center.
