Lake Delhi is recovering after an ice jam caused damage this past week.
Board Trustees President Dan Staebell:
The chunks of moving ice took whatever was in its path, but Staebell says the extent of the damage is not yet known.
Lake resident Jim Willey says he’s grateful to have no personal damage of his own, but he knows others weren’t so lucky.
It caught many off guard because ice jams on Lake Delhi are pretty unusual – the last time an ice jam caused this much damage was forty years ago in March of 1979.
Willey, who once served in a leadership role for Lake Delhi, knows there’s not much you can do to prevent an ice jam from happening.
Staebell says the next step is reviewing the damage and trying to find a way to remove what the ice jam left behind.
