The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office will host several meetings for the public to learn about the proposed Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and jail. The meetings will be held at the Earlville Community Center and the Hopkinton Community Center, Wednesday, April 17th ; Delhi Public Library, Thursday, April 18th; Edgewood Community Center, Monday, April 22nd, and the Colesburg Community Center, Wednesday, April 24th. All of the meetings are scheduled to run from 5pm to 7pm.
There will be an open house at the Sheriff’s Office and Jail on Saturday, April 27th , and Sunday, April 28th, from 9 Am to 3 PM. The jail will be open for tours and the public may review information about the proposed Sheriff’s Office and Jail project.
Additional meetings will be scheduled at additional locations in Delaware County.
Voters are being asked whether they are in favor of the County authorizing and issuing up to five-point-nine million dollars in General Obligation Bonds. The funds will be used to acquire land in Manchester and design, construct, furnish and equip a new jail and Sheriff’s Office.
The special election will be held Tuesday, May 7th, with polls open from 7 am to 8 pm across the county.
Requests for absentee ballots are now being accepted at the Delaware County Auditor’s Office.
