Delaware County is hosting its final public informational meetings about the proposed jail project this week.
Two meetings are being held tonight – at the Greeley Fire Department and the Delaware Fire Department – from 5 to 7 pm. Your last chance to attend a meeting to learn more about the proposed project is Wednesday night from 5 to 7 pm at the Masonville Fire Department.
An open house was held at the jail this past weekend, giving the public a chance to see the current facility. Sheriff John LeClere says they had a good turnout, with around 150 people attending.
Voters are being asked whether they are in favor of the County authorizing and issuing up to five-point-nine million dollars in General Obligation Bonds. The funds will be used to acquire land in Manchester and design, construct, furnish and equip a new jail and Sheriff’s Office.
The special election will be held next Tuesday, May 7th, with polls open from 7 am to 8 pm across the county.
