U.S. Postal Service mail carriers will be doing more than just delivering the mail this Saturday.
Letter carriers – both city and rural – will be picking up non-perishable food items to support the local food pantries. It’s for the annual Stamp Out Hunger Day, sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers.
To participate, just set out a bag of healthy non-perishable food and place it by your mailbox on Saturday. Your mail carrier will pick up and deliver to food banks and pantries in your community.
Last year, the food drive nationwide brought in more than 71-million pounds of food. It’s been America’s largest one-day food drive since 1993.
