A new condo-style building will be built in Manchester by the end of the year.
Local developer Wes Schulte says they’re excited to break ground on Phase One of the West Brook Development project on the west side of town.
All sixteen units will be available for lease this fall.
Housing is in demand right now in Manchester and throughout the county. Delaware County Economic Development officials say local industries are hiring, but there’s really no place for those employees to live. Schulte says this development will help fill that need by offering affordable, quality housing in Manchester.
Earlier this year, Schulte asked the Manchester City Council to consider this project for possible incentives, including an expanded property tax abatement. On Monday night, the Council approved an economic development loan agreement with Schulte, which includes a 50-thousand dollar loan at one-percent interest over ten years. The requested tax abatement will be considered at the next city council meeting.
