WEST DELAWARE SOFTBALL: Hawks Open Season Tonight

Tonight is the first legal playing date for High School Softball and Baseball teams around the state. The West Delaware Hawks will start their schedule at home against Waterloo Columbus and it begins the KMCH Sports summer broadcast slate. WD returns 7 starters from a team that went 24-16 and finished 3rd on the East side of the WaMaC Conference. The Hawks fell in the first round of Class 3A play to Beckman. This season they move back up to Class 4A for the first time since 2016. Head Coach Tiffany Rave is back for her 5th season at WD and 9th year overall. Columbus was 38-4 in 2018 and went to the state tournament in Class 3A losing both games. The Sailors won the match-up against the Hawks last year that was postponed because of rain to June 28th in Waterloo 8-3. The JV/Varsity doubleheader begins at 6pm with the varsity contest around 7:30pm. All the coverage with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Bill Logan live on KMCH and KMCH.com.
