Several Delaware County veterans received “Quilts of Valor” at a special ceremony Sunday in Manchester. The quilts were handmade by the “Veteran’s Stitchers” from the Elkader area and the “Veteran’s Angels” from the Guttenberg area. Penny Blume of Elkader is the leader of the Veteran’s Stitchers group and says the Quilts of Valor Foundation literally started with a dream:

Other area veterans receiving quilts were Harold Blatt, John Borgers, Charles Lane, Lonnie Latteyer, David Loecke, Bernard Monaghan, Joseph Nurre, Lynn Ryan, and Todd Tomlin all of Manchester; Keith Baumhardt of Earlville, and Francis Possehl of Springfield Illinois.
