Monday is Memorial Day – a day to remember those who lost their lives while serving our country.
Manchester will host their Memorial Day services at 11 am at Oakland Cemetery.
That’s Larry Tibbott, who says they’d appreciate any help with setting up flags – they’ll meet Saturday at 7 am at the cemetery’s mausoleum.
The Ryan Legion will once again host services on Monday morning at several of the area’s smaller cemeteries before holding the last service of the day at 11:30 am at the Ryan Veterans Memorial. They’ll follow that up with a roast beef and pork lunch at the Ryan Legion, with everyone welcome.
And Anamosa will be celebrating the Legion’s 100th Anniversary after their Memorial Day services on Monday. The service begins at 9 am at the Jones County Courthouse, followed by a parade from Hubert Street to Riverside, with a stop at the Courthouse Memorial. A service will also take place at Riverside around 10:15 am. They’ll celebrate the Legion’s anniversary at the pavilion across the cemetery after the service – everyone is welcome.
If you’re not able to make it to a service this year, we’ll re-broadcast the Manchester Memorial Day service here on KMCH at 1 pm and 5 pm on Monday.
