A driver had to be rescued from floodwaters in Buchanan County last weekend.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to Three Elms Park near Independence late Saturday afternoon for a report of a vehicle stranded in floodwaters.
The driver, Eric Fishel of Waterloo, was traveling into the Three Elms Park area when he came across two separate flooded areas. Authorities say he drove through the first flooded area before his car was overwhelmed by the deeper second flooded area. Water began to fill the passenger area of his vehicle. He was able to climb out of the car to safety and was not injured.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Independence Fire Department and Buchanan County Conservation.
