A location has unofficially been chosen for the new Delaware County Jail and Sheriff’s Office.
The new facility will be built in Gary Vontalge’s subdivision on the northwest side of Manchester. The County plans to purchase a four-acre lot in that commercial subdivision, which sits just north of Old Highway 20 past Runde Auto Group at the intersection of North 13th Street and West Howard Street. A map of the proposed site is shown below.
The County had been eyeing a couple of locations, including one in the Manchester Industrial Park. But County Supervisor Jeff Madlom says when the bond issue passed in early May, several others came forward to present options to the County. After reviewing their five options, Madlom says they chose the site that they felt was the best location.
The Board of Supervisors plan to officially approve the site location for the new Delaware County Jail and Sheriff’s Office at their June 10th meeting.
