One of Manchester’s busiest downtown streets will be closed down next week.
South Franklin Street is undergoing a paving project and River City Paving has moved up the start date to this Monday, June 3rd.
The City of Manchester says South Franklin will be closed from the four main corners south to West Marion Street. This will only affect South Franklin – all side streets will remain open.
South Franklin will be open Monday, but there will be flaggers directing traffic while crews lower manholes and water boxes. On Tuesday, South Franklin will close at 7 am as they work to mill off the street’s existing surface. The new asphalt surface will go down on Wednesday. And on Thursday, the Manchester City Streets Department will be painting turn lanes and parking stalls. River City’s crews will also be raising manholes and water boxes.
The City says if everything goes well and the weather holds out, they hope to have South Franklin Street back open by Friday.
