New Delhi Community Garden Offers Free Fresh Produce

Delhi has created a community garden.

Delhi United Methodist Church and Maquoketa Valley FFA teamed up to provide local residents with free fresh produce this summer. Pastor Keith Pitts explains.

Maquoketa Valley FFA Instructor Ann Grant says it took a lot of work to get the community garden ready.

The community garden is filled with a variety of fresh produce – from tomatoes, lettuce and carrots to onions, potatoes and watermelon – and much more. A local farmer is even donating some sweet corn. FFA member Lane Domeyer says anyone who needs fresh produce is welcome to stop by their blue and gold vegetable stand at 506 6th Street in Delhi.

They just ask that you only take whatever fresh produce you can eat – the garden is NOT intended to provide enough produce for someone to freeze or can vegetables. The produce is free, but donations are accepted.
