Pilot Escapes Clayton County Plane Crash Uninjured

A pilot escaped a plane crash in Clayton County uninjured on Thursday morning.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to the Elkader Airport on Grape Road for a report of an airplane crash shortly after 11 am.

The pilot, 62-year old Mark Koehn of Elkader, freed himself from the wreckage. He was not hurt.

Authorities say Koehn was attempting to land his 1966 single engine Cessna when the crash occurred.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Elkader Fire Department.

The Sheriff’s Office conducted a preliminary investigation and provided their findings to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigators.
