Despite some hot and stormy weather, Edgewood Pro Rodeo Days was a big success again this year.
Around 12,000 people attended the four-day event. Edgewood Chamber Director Elise Bergan says Saturday night’s rodeo brought in the most people, with 3,800 tickets sold. Thursday night’s rodeo had 2,000 in attendance, Friday night’s rodeo brought in 3,400 and Sunday’s Demo Derby drew 2,400. The Edgewood Firemen’s Breakfast on Sunday morning fed around 1,100 people.
And the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales were in Edgewood all week, performing in the ring each night at the rodeo and staying on the rodeo grounds available for public viewing – even making a few trips around Edgewood and Colesburg. Bergan estimates around a thousand people came to town throughout the week just to see the famous horses.
Edgewood Pro Rodeo Days is the biggest week of the year for Edgewood – a town of just 865 – and Bergan says they couldn’t do it without everyone’s support.
Congratulations to Riley Preuss, who was crowned Miss Edgewood on Saturday night. And Jay and Elaine Funke served as the Grand Marshals in Saturday’s parade.
Mark your calendars for next year’s Edgewood Pro Rodeo Days – June 25th through the 28th.
