Motorcyclist Injured in Coggon Collision

A motorcyclist was injured in a collision in Coggon Saturday afternoon.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened at the corner of 3rd Street South and 4th Avenue East in Coggon a little before 2 pm.

Authorities say a vehicle driven by 68-year old Diana Sills of Coggon was northbound on 3rd Street South when she crossed into oncoming southbound traffic. She hit a motorcycle driven by 50-year old Alan Henderson, also of Coggon.

Henderson was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for what authorities believed were non-life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.

Sills was not hurt. She has been cited for driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.

Henderson was also cited for no proof of insurance and failing to have a valid license or permit while operating a motor vehicle.
