The West Delaware Hawks Baseball team ended Independence’s season in DeWitt in Class 3A first round district play by the score of 3-1. Central DeWitt won the nightcap 8-4 over Anamosa. It sets up tonight’s semifinal game back in DeWitt for the Hawks and Sabers at 7pm. Our coverage will begin at 6:50 with Bill Logan and WD AD Matt Weis on KMCH and KMCH.com.
Western Dubuque won their first round contest over Waterloo East at home, 11-0 in 5 innings. The Bobcats earn a bye tonight and will await the winner of the Dubuque Hempstead and Davenport Central game. That substate final will be held in Farley on Wednesday night which we’ll have live from KMCH Sports.
The Cascade Cougars were upset in their district final at home by Oelwein 9-8. Falling to the Huskies for the 2nd season in a row in their final game.
Beckman’s run of 8 substate games in a row came to an end as they fell to Camanche 4-2 at Jenk Field. The Blazers will not play in a substate contest for the first time since 2010.
The North Linn Lynx beat Waterloo Columbus 9-0 at home to win their 5th district final in a row. The Lynx will face Pella Christian Tuesday night in Van Horne which can be heard here live from KMCH Sports
The 2019 State Softball Tournament begins today at the Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge. Our coverage will get underway with 2A play as the top-ranked North Linn Lynx making their state tourney debut takes on Wapello at 3pm. Sports Director Jon Swisher and Brian Wheatley will have the call live on KMCH and KMCH.com. Fifth-seeded Beckman who is also at state for the first time will match-up with Mount Ayr at 3:30pm. That game can be heard on KMCH.com with Karl Wooldridge and Kevin Schuchmann.
