The MDA is hosting a special fundraiser event at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville this Saturday.
It’s the inaugural Iron Horse Classic Home Run Derby.
Derek Harrigan with the Muscular Dystrophy Association says everyone is welcome to come out.
Divisions will be available for ages 9-13, 14-18 and 18 and older, with prizes awarded for the top of each division. There will also be an Adaptive Hitting division for participants with unique needs. And kids 8 and under can run the bases for free in between the first and second divisions.
The cost to participate is 35 dollars, which includes coaching from the Ghost Players and a t-shirt. Everyone is welcome to sign up or you can just come and watch. Concessions will be available, along with music and games for the whole family.
And Harrigan says all of the funds raised will stay local to support MDA families fighting Muscular Dystrophy.
Saturday’s first-ever Iron Horse Classic Home Run Derby starts at 10 am at the Field of Dreams Movie Site in Dyersville. To sign up, visit www2.mda.org/ironhorseclassic.
