The Dyersville Area Relay for Life was held at Beckman Catholic High School on Friday night.
It’s a night where the community comes together to honor cancer survivors and remember those who have lost the fight.
Around 22 teams participated in raising money for the event, with all funds going to the American Cancer Society. Kaleann Waterman took over the reigns as this year’s Event Lead Fundraising Chair.
Waterman says there are a couple reasons why she got involved with the Relay for Life.
Over forty cancer survivors gathered for this year’s Dyersville Area Relay for Life. One of them was Jayme Bries, who was asked to return as this year’s Cancer Survivor Speaker. Bries was first diagnosed four years ago, with another bout earlier this year. His positivity has been an inspiration to others.
And Bries says attending the Relay for Life and being around others affected by cancer has helped him in this journey.
