ISU Extension and Outreach is offering an informational workshop on farmland leasing and land values in Manchester tonight.
Melissa O’Rourke, Extension Farm and Agribusiness Management Specialist, says more than half of Iowa farmland is rented – so it’s something she gets a lot of questions about year after year.
O’Rourke says ISU research has indicated that, on average, cash rent values across the state have declined for several years.
She also notes that the average age of farmland owners is increasing.
Along with discussing those topics, O’Rourke says they’ll also spend some time discussing the new farm bill.
Tonight’s Farmland Leasing and Management Workshop will begin at 6:30 pm at the Delaware County Community Center at the fairgrounds in Manchester. A $25 fee will be taken at the door.
