Independence Man Arrested on Numerous Charges after Rowley Incident

An Independence man has been arrested after an incident in Rowley last week.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a report of a disturbance in the 500 block of Sunset Boulevard last Wednesday night. They say a man and woman who shared a child but lived separately were in an argument, during which the man pulled out a handgun and threatened the woman. He left the area with their child before authorities arrived.

The man, 37-year old Kevin Leland King, was later found at a home in the 700 block of 10th Street SW in Independence. Authorities say King refused to talk with them or leave the home, so law enforcement surrounded the home. King eventually walked out of the home and was taken into custody without incident. The child was found to be unharmed and was returned to the mother.

Following two separate search warrants, King was arrested and charged with Felon in Possession of Firearm, one count of second offense Possession of Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine and one count of Child Endangerment (aggravated misdemeanor), as well as several other charges.

The incident remains under investigation and additional charges are pending.
