Space Available in Local DNR Hunter Education Classes

Space available in several hunter education classes that will be held in the area.

Iowa law requires that anyone born after January 1, 1972 must be certified in hunter education before they are eligible to purchase an Iowa hunting license.

Hunter Education Classroom courses are offered by certified volunteer instructors and Iowa DNR Conservation Officers. The courses are typically 12-15 hours long and are held over 2 to 3 sessions. In order to receive certification, a student must attend all sessions and pass the final exam.

Hunter education classes will be held locally in Fairbank on August 24th at the Fairbank Gun Club, in Independence on September 4th at the Buchanan County Wildlife Association and in Dyersville on September 17th at the Dyersville Fire Department.
