A Dubuque County teen is excited to start her reign as Iowa’s Dairy Princess.
Julie Hammerand was crowned the state’s dairy princess less than two weeks ago. The 18-year old from Sherrill says the honor came as a complete surprise.
Hammerand represented Dubuque County as one of eight candidates vying for the title of Iowa Dairy Princess.
And with her new state crown, she’s looking forward to branching out and promoting dairy across Iowa.
Hammerand will begin her new reign as Iowa Dairy Princess on September 1st, taking over for Jessica Schmitt of Fort Atkinson. Hammerand will serve alongside Alternate Iowa Dairy Princess Faith Palmer of Waukon.
